This March, my husband, Jordon and I visited Texas for the first time! We were in Houston for a ministry conference and were honestly so blessed and encouraged by the speakers. Though we were there for just a few short days, we got to explore a little bit of the Houston, Texas area. When we landed, one thing I could tell off the bat, the humidity is no joke! My hair was frizzing up the moment we landed. Nonetheless, it was definitely beautiful weather in Texas and we even got to drive around a Tesla for the first time as our rental car which was pretty cool.
Here are five things we did in Houston, Texas we really enjoyed:
This location was a random hidden gem I found while scrolling through TikTok. It’s like a mini Mexico with so many cute photo opportunities! It opens on certain days of the week as a Pop-Up Market with different vendors. See their Instagram account for exact information/times: @oldtownharrisburg.
BEST BBQ FOOD I’VE EVER HAD. I’ve had a lot of different BBQ food but really nothing compares to real authentic Texas style BBQ. I tried their pulled pork, mac & cheese with coleslaw and it was a match made in heaven. No wonder Texas is known for their BBQ!
Jordon has been talking about visiting Alphaland for the last year – he loves the Alphalete brand. Alphaland is literally like a Disney world for the gym lovers – it’s huge. They have an indoor gym, outdoor gym, cafe, apparel store and more. I am not as much of a gym lover as my husband, but if I lived close to Alphaland I probably would be a gym rat, too. We payed for a 24-hour day pass for about $55.
When we landed in Texas, this was the first thing we ate! They have an array of delicious breakfast options. I would go back just to have their Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes! They also had a great, chill environment with a modern aesthetic.
If you love taking photos like me, you’ll definitely enjoy taking photos with some of the beautiful murals/wall art found in Houston! Right by this cool vintage clothing store, Pavement are a couple of fun walls with colorful stripes, leopard print, and color-block pink. I didn’t have enough time to grab photos of all of the art. but I did grab some pics with the colorful striped wall:
