Hello beautiful ladies! I am so excited to introduce to you guys my beautiful faith blogger friend Nana Yaa (@themidimaven) from TheMidiMaven.com. God is working beautifully through this amazing lady and I just had to share her with you guys! Considering the comparison-filled world we are living in, I thought it’d be great for Nana Yaa to share with you her thoughts and perspective on self-confidence. Please help me in welcoming Nana Yaa!
I wasn’t always confident in myself and even til this day I still battle with some insecurities. But as I’m nearing my 25th birthday I realize that life is too short to live based off of others opinions. If I truly want to live an abundant life and live in true freedom (as we already have Freedom in Christ) then I have to loosen the grasp that others have on me and stop being so concerned with what they think. Because truly who am I living for? As I’m reflecting on this year I’ve started to retrain my mind and change my perspective on certain things. Your thoughts are really powerful and the only way to gain self-confidence is by first getting a hold of your thoughts. Here are 3 tips I’ve used to regain my self-confidence:
– Compliment and Encourage Yourself
I grew up thinking I wasn’t super attractive. I never thought I was pretty enough or good enough and it seemed the guys I always liked never liked me back. I realize now that wasn’t the case and even if they didn’t find me attractive it doesn’t mean its true. I am beautiful. They just didn’t think so. But so what? It was just an opinion! Tell yourself how awesome you are and remember all the great things you’ve accomplished and all that you have to offer. The only opinion that should matter is God’s opinion. HE made you in His image and saw that you were GOOD. Perfect the way you are.
– Remind yourself WHOSE you are
You are God’s child, a part of a royal priesthood, fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. Girl you’re royalty! A queen, a prize! Do not second guess your value and do not let others decide your value. Jesus decided this when HE paid the price for you!
– State your FEAR / WORRY / INSECURITY / LIE out loud and combat it with the TRUTH
What lies have you been telling yourself over the years? Why? How did you come to believe them? What is the truth? There’s a saying that goes “WE act not in accordance with the TRUTH, but the truth as we believe it to be.” Oh my gosh!!! We are acting on the beliefs that we have told ourselves which may or may not be true! Change your beliefs, change your mind, and you’ll change your life!
