Valentines Day is a day we’re reminded of how sweet it is to be loved and love others. All the candy, flowers, balloons, and stuffed animals are cutesy or whatever, but lets get down to it – if you don’t LOVE yourself, how can you possibly love others?
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39
Taking care of yourself is not wrong nor selfish. It’s biblical. Here are a couple ways you can take care of yourself:
FILL YOUR CUP.
When we love on others, we are only pouring into others what is already in us. If your cup is empty and dry, there’s nothing to pour. Fill your cup by spending time with God in prayer and worship! This is so important. If my cup is not filled, I am easily angered and/or annoyed. How can we love others like this? I always have to keep myself in check and make sure that my spirit is well taken care of.
I recently started a devotional called “Jesus Always” and I love it. It goes by the calendar dates so I always open to whatever day it currently is and find so much encouragement. Also, I have a worship playlist on Apple Music that I’m constantly adding new songs to. Here’s the link: PRAISE HIM WITH SONG PLAYLIST
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO UPLIFT YOU.
Surrounding yourself with the right people is critical. “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.” OK these words are so TRUE. I’m definitely not one to have a billion friends, but having a good few friends is necessary! If you are the kind of person who is constantly complaining or just giving negative energy sorry we won’t be friends. #ITSANO. Life is so valuable and so much fun! Stop wasting time being so negative!
MAKE TIME FOR YOU.
Life is busy. I know I don’t have any children so who am I to talk, but sheesh, I feel like I’m always busy and there’s always something to do. But surprise surprise, we will ALWAYS be busy. Time waits for no one and things just have to be done… However, making sure to set aside time for you throughout the week to declutter your mind is so beneficial.
INVEST IN YOURSELF.
One of the most asked questions I get is “How have you grown your blog?!” Number one thing I’d say is by “investing in myself.” Building my blog and engaging with my audience costs me time, energy, motivation, and money. I have lots of goals, dreams, and aspirations; however, I will never reach my goals if I don’t invest in myself. For you reading this, your dreams might be a little different than mine but the principle is still the same. Invest in your dreams, ask people the right questions, invest in books/ebooks about your field, pay for the training, take the course, buy the equipment! Believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself who will?
These are some of the things I personally love to do to take care of myself. I would love to hear your thoughts on different ways you LOVE yourself! Thanks so much for reading and happy LOVE day, friends!
