5 Reasons Why We Chose our Wedding Venue at Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern in Saugerties, NY

Our wedding is just about 50 days away and I’m so excited! Jordon and I have been planning down to the details for this beautiful day in our lives! After we had gotten engaged we were pretty much decided on which venue we would choose for our wedding day. We had visited Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern back in October 2020 for a Fall getaway with Jordon’s mom and we were absolutely so impressed (we weren’t even engaged yet so we were just casually visiting)! Read more about our visit here.

After we had gotten engaged, when we began aggressively searching for venues nothing compared to the Saugerties Steamboat location at Diamond Mills. The Steamboat is still property of Diamond Mills but just about 2 minutes away from the actual Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern. They have several venue options for weddings at Diamond Mills including the Steamboat, Tavern and the Ballroom. We decided to go with the Saugerties Steamboat for several reasons.

Here are the 5 reasons why we chose our wedding venue:

  1. Rustic. Jordon and I wanted something with a rustic barn house type feel. As soon as we looked at the Steamboat location we fell in love with the rustic look! It was perfect. The beautiful scenery throughout the entire location is stunning. We think our guests are going to really enjoy it!
  2. Location. Personally, I wanted a destination wedding, but with COVID, traveling restrictions and wanting our family to be there, we decided an Upstate New York wedding was perfect. It’s not too far, but far enough from our “norm.” We wanted to give our guests an experience they’d never forget. It’s about 2 hours from where we live now.
  3. Food. The restaurant at Diamond Mills (The Tavern) is a five-star restaurant with absolutely incredible food. When we visited back in October we ate so much but everything was so good! I would literally visit the location just for the food. Yeap, I’d take the two hour trip. The Tavern will be catering the food over at the Steamboat location on our wedding day and we can’t wait for guests to experience it. We will also be having our rehearsal dinner with our bridal party there the day before. We just can’t get enough!
  4. Hotel Cleanliness. A clean hotel is an absolute necessity. When we visited back in October, we were impressed with many things but one of the most critical things that we were impressed with was how clean the entire facility was. Cleanliness definitely makes or breaks a hotel experience! Without hesitation, I can confidently say the hotel was comfortable, presentable, and super clean!
  5. Friendly Staff. I can’t say enough good things about the hotel manager and wedding planners! They are the sweetest people you will ever meet and they are so accommodating (especially with all the chaos and stress this COVID season has brought). Dealing with the unknown with things like restrictions, vaccines, testing, etc. can be tricky, but I’m very thankful for the Diamond Mills staff who have been patient and positive throughout the entire process!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post about our wedding venue, we absolutely can’t wait to celebrate the big day!

Advice for engaged couples: before deciding on a venue, make sure you fully experience the location, accommodations, and taste the food! Weddings are such big investment so making sure you are confident with the venue you decide on for one of the most important days of your lives is top priority!
