I’ve just finished my last minute Christmas shopping with Jordon over at American Dream Mall in Rutherford, New Jersey (omgosh huge mall)! It was so nice strolling through the mall with my fiancé and enjoying picking out gifts for people I love. At one point my feet started hurting from all the walking we were doing and I was like “who’s idea was it to give gifts on Christmas anyways?!” LOL I was so tired. Jordon said “blame the wisemen.” Oh Pastor Jordon, always bringing the wisdom haha! But he’s right! The wisemen were the ones who brought gifts to Jesus at the manger!
As I was sitting inside of Ulta, resting my feet I kind of chuckled at how packed the store was with so many THINGS. It hit me… Christmas time we often get so consumed with THINGS. Shopping for THINGS can really mix up the true meaning of Christmas, I’ll tell ya. But friends, never forget what the REAL meaning of Christmas is. The birth of Jesus Christ in this world is what makes the Christmas season so much more sweeter! So as you gather around the tree this Christmas season, CELEBRATE the birth of Jesus and the JOY that it brings. This JOY that Jesus brings is an overflowing joy and nothing compared to the joy that the world offers. The JOY of the birth of Jesus is what causes us to GIVE! So GIVE! Give your time, give your presence, give those sentimental gifts, give those thoughtful gifts. GIVING IS BEAUTIFUL. And it’s far better than receiving. The look on peoples faces when they open their gifts is priceless! Don’t take any of those moments for granted. I know this COVID filled year is definitely a testament to that — enjoy every single moment with your loved ones. Life is scary out there, but with Jesus there is HOPE. With Jesus there is JOY. That’s the true meaning of Christmas.
